SolarBuddy strives to provide opportunities for all children and believe that for future generations to thrive, we must create a world where no-one is left behind.
One of the biggest obstacles we face is extreme energy poverty; one of the worst forms of poverty that hardly anyone knows about. It is a complex challenge, impacting the health and wellbeing, educational outcomes, and economic stability of the communities experiencing it as well as our environment.
SolarBuddy are creating solutions and shining a light on a lesser-known issue.
People living in extreme energy poverty have no access to safe, reliable, and affordable lighting. The alternative to no energy at all is often the use of unsafe, toxic, and polluting forms of energy such as firewood, coal, and fuel-based lighting including kerosene and diesel, but these alternatives destroy lives.
